About Me

Beginning Your Own Business

My name is Harry and this is my first blog. I live in Perth with my wife and our pet dog. I am 53 years old and for the last 20 years, I have worked at the local auto repair and manufacturing plant. Working on the shop floor can be a lot of fun but after 2 decades, I have grown a little tired of it all. My brother-in-law suggested I think about starting my own business making and repairing specialist auto parts. I explained that you could fit my knowledge of business onto the back of a stamp. He said that he could fix that and invited me to spend 6 months tour his different businesses to see how they work. I learnt so much that I just had to share it with the rest of the world.

Choosing The Right Hydraulic Fluid For Your Ute Crane

If you own a ute crane, there will come a time when you need to lubricate the mechanism with oil to keep it operating at its best. Hydraulic fluids and oils are the best solution for the job and will keep your ute crane operating perfectly whilst also prolonging its useful life. However, it is important that you choose the right hydraulic oil for your crane to ensure the best results. There are many different grades on the market and which you choose will depend on your type of hydraulic system and other aspects unique to your particular make or model of ute crane.

The following factors can determine which type of hydraulic oil is most suited to your ute:

  • Viscosity -- When choosing hydraulic fluid one of the most important factors to consider is viscosity. If you choose a fluid that doesn't match the operating temperature of your crane, you could do more harm than good. Knowing the operating temperatures of your ute crane and choosing fluid to match will ensure you give your crane the best lubrication. For example, if your crane operates in particularly cold temperatures, you may want to choose a multigrade oil. These oils maintain their viscosity within a broad temperature range.
  • Anti-wear additives -- In order to protect the hydraulic system of your ute crane, you need to ensure your hydraulic fluid contains anti-wear additives. As their name suggests, anti-wear additives are designed to prolong the life of your crane by enhancing the lubrication process. However, it is also worth knowing that some anti-additives can act as a corrosive to certain metals, and therefore it is important to check with the manufacturer of your ute crane whether these products are suitable. Also, look for fluids containing stabilised anti-wear additives as these will help to prolong the useful life of your crane without corrosion.
  • Detergent Oils -- One of the best things you can choose to keep your ute crane in perfect working order is a hydraulic fluid that contains detergent oils. These oils help to disperse sludge, varnish and other contaminants that have found their way onto your crane and which could hamper its operation. Detergent oils also act as a barrier, stopping these components from taking hold in the first place.

Choosing the right hydraulic fluid for your ute crane will keep it in perfect working order and working perfectly for longer. If you are unsure which oil you should choose to suit your crane, get in touch with your manufacturer.
